Origins

  • Joined Peñarol academy aged 10 . Initially reluctant to run on big pitches coached out of it quickly.
  • Senior debut for Peñarol on , one day after his 17th birthday. Mentored by idol Diego Forlán.
  • Won the Uruguayan Primera División & Apertura with Peñarol his first senior trophies.
  • Won the U-20 World Cup Silver Ball in 2017 , finishing as second-best player. Arsenal, Barcelona, Chelsea & Real Madrid all scouted him.

Phase 2

The Apprenticeship

2016 – 2019 · Castilla → Loan → First Team Entry

Formation

  • Transferred to Real Madrid , assigned to reserve team Castilla. Scored first Castilla goal vs Albacete in December 2016.
  • Sent on loan to Deportivo La Coruña for 2017–18. Made 25 La Liga appearances crucial first-team experience in Spain.
  • Impressed Lopetegui in pre-season 2018. Made his official Real Madrid debut in the UCL group stage vs Viktoria Plzeň, aged 20.
